For the Faint of Heart
This study covers the subject of suffering and can be used with or without the book For The Faint of Heart. Different Bible passages are used in this study from those cited in the book. The table of contents from the book is followed and many have used this material in conjunction with reading the book. For those who like discussion, this study provides more in-depth questions with each lesson concluding with "What does this mean for us today?"
In His Hand
For those who want to become immersed in the Bible, this study is for you. Each unit contains 25-30 Bible passages to read and ponder. Topics include: God's Sovereignty, Pride and Sinfulness, Salvation, Enemies, Suffering, Emotions, Minds, Forgiveness, Reconciliation, Loving Others, Praying, Righteousness, Ministry, and Wealth. The bottom line is this: EVERYTHING is in God's hand and we can rest in His grace-filled control of our lives.
Walk Humbly with Your God
The Micah 6:8 passage is studied in detail: "He has shown you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly, love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God." We examine our journey on this earth in the following areas: Being Exiles and Strangers, Having Humility, Walking With God, God's Control, Making Decisions, Using God's Word, Acting Justly, Loving Mercy, Being Guided by the Spirit, God's Protection and Provisions, and Heading for Home.
Encouraging Disciples
This study is designed to equip Christians to encourage fellow Christians. Using the simple acronym PLEP (Pray, Listen, Explore, and Proclaim), this material examines the process of mutual conversation and consolation of brothers and sisters in Christ. Written from a distinctively Lutheran perspective, this study covers applying Law and Gospel, realizing our Christian liberty, being the priesthood of believers, and distinguishing the theology of glory from the theology of the cross. Those trained as Stephen Ministers have appreciated the depth, focus, and freedom of this approach to encouragement in the Body of Christ.
Renewing Minds, Inflaming Hearts
This study explores the inner flesh/Spirit battle within every believer. The "inside of the cup" is cleaned by having wrong attachments, misplaced identities, and selfish motives revealed to us, moving us to repentance and clinging to forgiveness in Christ. The images and beliefs we have as men and women are also explored as to how they influence our relationships and prayers. Many Bible studies in the Church today focus on what we should do; this study goes deeper and examines what we believe.
Revelation: Conquerors Through Christ
This study explores the book of Revelation from a rare perspective today: the amillennial Lutheran one. Although it has been the dominant view in the Church for the past 2,000 years, it has fallen silent in the present day. This book can be daunting for many believers, but this study aims for general insights that can be made by the careful reader. Effort is made not to divide Christian views but to highlight what all believers can agree upon in the book of Revelation. 11 units are offered but can be easily stretched into 12 weeks.
